The neighbourhood house sector is unique and vital with more than 400 community led and governed neighbourhood houses across Victoria. Committee's play an integral role in governing these organisations and there is a wealth of resources available to help build knowledge and understanding of the sector to support good governance and legal compliance. Neighbourhood House Coordination Program

Neighbourhood Houses Victoria sector updates and other resources

Most Neighbourhood Houses receive funding from the Department of Families, Fairness and Houses of the Victorian Government through the Neighbourhood House Coordination Program - DFFH Service Providers, there are some neighbourhood houses who are unfunded and are run by volunteers. If your house if a funded house you are required to meet specific service agreement obligations.

Neighbourhood Houses Victoria is the peak body and provides weekly sector updates via email. Committee members, Managers, Coordinators are encouraged to sign up to receive these updates. Go to www.nhvic.org.au scroll to the bottom of the page and subscribe.

There are a number of Facebook groups: one is a general group (1) NHVic Member's Group | Facebook and the other is a finance specific group (1) NHVic Finance Group | Facebook

The Governance Handbook for Neighbourhood Houses & Community Centre Committees and Boards is an excellent resource for all Committee members and a useful resource for NH Managers/Coordinators. Originally developed by the Barwon Network with additional work undertaken by the Community House Network Southern Region Governance-Handbook-Oct-2024-Version-2.pdf

The Community Centres/Neighbourhood House Practice Framework is an excellent resource for both Committee members and House Managers produce by the Community House Network Southern Region. It is supported by The Health Check Tool (HCT) is designed to support houses to review their practice.
